## **Inclusive at the core**

Equality and inclusivity extend beyond corporate social responsibility; it manifests in our treatment of each other, in our actions and daring to challenge the status quo.

That’s why we’re excited to announce our partnership with [It Gets Better UK](https://www.itgetsbetter.org.uk/), the UK division of the global It Gets Better Project. We’ll be supporting them as a pro bono client for Pride Month and beyond.

The It Gets Better Project, a non-profit organisation with a mission to uplift, empower and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer youth around the globe, was founded in 2010 as a response to the high rates of suicide and self-harm among the young LGBTQ+ community in the US and the UK arm launched in 2018.

The truth is inclusive and accepting environments are not a reality for many in the LGBTQ+ community. A recent study by Stonewall found that one in eight LGBTQ+ people aged 18-24 had attempted to end their lives, and over 50% of trans people thought about suicide[[i]](https://www.wearetwogether.com/blog/twogether-with-pride?hs_amp=true#_edn1).

Since its inception, the grassroots movement, It Gets Better Project, has spread globally, with thousands of people supporting by making homegrown videos.

These have recently featured in their #YourStoryMatters campaign, which we helped them deliver. Our team devised a Media plan to run across socials and press; our creative team designed and wrote a series of banners that would feature across different sites. Together, we reached 1M+ impressions.

Finally, we equipped It Gets Better with a EOC Media Report. This will help them direct their next campaigns, as they work towards their vision: a world where all LGBTQ+ youth are free to live equally and know their worthiness and power as individuals.

They focus on building communities both locally and internationally by cultivating a growing network of international affiliates that have embraced the It Gets Better Project’s mission to support LGBTQ+ youth in their home countries, engaging with young LGBTQ+ people both online and offline and connecting them to local community service providers that can provide on-the-ground assistance.

Their aim is to connect young LGBTQ+ people with the global LGBTQ+ community by providing access to an arsenal of uplifting and inspiring stories of hope, resilience and determination, as told by members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

Meaningful and impactful change is an *ongoing* process, but there are things we can all do right now as individuals to help LGBTQ+ communities around the world:

- Discuss LGBTQ+ issues with friends, family and colleagues to raise awareness and create more inclusive and accepting environments.
- Take discrimination and hate crime seriously by reporting it if you witness it both inside and outside of the workplace.
- Support LGBTQ+ events and charities that represent impactful change for the community and campaign against policies and laws that discriminate against the LGBTQ+ community.
